Robert Ballard

... discovered the wreck of the Titanic in 1985, and four years later he discovered the remains of the German battleship Bismarck at a point some 450 miles due west of the western extremity of Brittany. "Bismarck" should be an equally acceptable answer to this question.

Ballard also discovered the wrecks of the American aircraft carrier Yorktown (sunk by a Japanese torpedo in 1942) and the PT–109 – an 80–foot patrol torpedo boat, which sank in 1943 after being rammed by a Japanese destroyer, while under the command of Lieutenant (junior grade) John F. Kennedy. But both of these were in the Pacific Ocean.
